ORREFORS

During 2006 I got the opportunity to do a glass project together with Orrefors. This was my first introduction to glass.


I wanted to accentuate one of our greatest gifts, the essential condition to life on earth. By studying surface tension and the natural beauty that exist in the forms of water I created drinking glasses for water purpose with reference to the shape of fluid water it self.


STORY - The bounty of nature

I aimed at creating a feeling of pure water that arrives as a gift to the dining table, getting collected by the table top, like a leaf collects the fresh humid morning air into dew-drops, in a gesture of “passing over” (a delivery of a bounty.)

Due to the drop shape these drinking glasses have no flat surface. Although an almost flat bottom surface makes them stable enough for dining use, they will never appear as static as regular drinking glasses do. They shutter by touch… Just like dew-drops on a leaf.
